DIY Elderberry Syrup Kit - How To

Hey you!

Thank you so much for purchasing our DIY Elderberry Syrup kit.  We just know you are going to love making your own batch of organic elderberry syrup.

Our kit contains only the highest quality ingredients and even comes with it's own brewing bag.  Less mess!

Let's get started shall we?

Step 1:  Simmer Down Y’all

Place the brewing bag in four cups of filtered water and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 45 minutes.

Step 2: Hot Stuff

Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.

Step 3: We Do the Mash

Using the back of a wooden spoon mash the brew bag to extract all of the remaining juice from the elderberries.  You can also squeeze the bag by hand but we recommend gloves for this as elderberry stains errrrthang!

Discard the bag.

Step 4: Sweet Thang

Allow the elderberry juice to cool completely before adding your honey.  This is important to preserve the healthy qualities of the raw honey.  If your elderberry liquid is too hot it will begin to kill the beneficial enzymes in the raw honey.

Start with 1/2 cup to 1 cup of honey, maple syrup or agave.  Sweeten to your taste.  We like it sweet here in the South! Use local honey for additional allergy and sinus relief.

Sweetening your elderberry helps make it taste great but also helps it last longer because honey is antibacterial.  If left unsweetened, your extract should be consumed or frozen within a week.

Step 5: Grab a Jar

Pour your elderberry syrup into a glass jar with an airtight lid such as a mason jar and store in the fridge for up to 2 months or freeze for 6-8 months.  We recommend a silicone ice tray for freezing.

Done!

You just made your very own organic elderberry syrup!

Usage:

1 teaspoon for children 6 and under (honey version not recommended for children under 12 months)

1 tablespoon for adults and children over 6 years of age

Take once a day to boost your immune system, prevent colds and flu and for seasonal allergies.  Repeat every 2-3 hours if treating illness.

I knew you could do it!  Stay well my friend.
